Air Plant
Description:
The Tillandsia, commonly known as an Air Plant, is a fascinating and low-maintenance epiphyte that grows without soil, absorbing moisture and nutrients through its specialized leaves. Native to Central and South America, Tillandsias feature elegant, sculptural forms—ranging from spiky rosettes to cascading curls—that make them popular for terrariums, driftwood displays, or hanging glass orbs.
Compact and versatile, air plants are ideal for desktops, shelves, or mounted wall décor. Their minimal soil-free setup and artistic appearance make them a modern favorite for plant lovers, interior designers, and anyone looking to add effortless greenery to their home or workspace.
Plant Care:
Light: Prefers bright, indirect light or filtered sunlight. Can tolerate some direct morning light but avoid harsh afternoon rays.
Water: Soak the air plant in room-temperature water for 15–30 minutes once a week. Shake off excess moisture and let it dry completely in a well-ventilated area. In hot or dry climates, misting 2–3 times a week may be beneficial in addition to weekly soaking.
Soil: Not required. Tillandsias grow without soil—attach them to wood, shells, or place them in open terrariums.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity. Use misting to supplement humidity in drier environments.
Fertilizer: Feed once a month with a bromeliad or air plant-specific fertilizer diluted to half strength during the growing season (spring–summer).
Disclaimer:
Our air plants are supplied bare-root (without pots or soil). Size and shape vary naturally depending on the species and growth stage. Handle gently and keep in a well-ventilated location for best results.
