Agave
Description:
Agave Americana, also known as the Century Plant, is a striking succulent native to Mexico. With its tall spikes of yellow flowers and broad, symmetrical rosette of spiky blue-green leaves, it adds an exotic touch to any garden. Despite its common name, the Century Plant doesn't actually live for a hundred years - it blooms once and then dies, but leaves behind offsets (pups) to continue its legacy.
Plant Care:
- Light: Full sun to partial shade
- Water: Drought-tolerant, water only when soil is completely dry
- Soil: Well-draining, porous soil
- Hardiness: USDA zones 8-11
- Pruning: Trim off dead leaves, old flower stalks, and offsets to keep the plant looking neat.
Note: Over-watering can be fatal to Agave Americana, as it is native to arid regions and does not tolerate soggy soil.
